Report on Peace Building seminar
with Journalists and Women Leaders
Journalists
are an important part of our society and they can be
helpful in the promotion of Peace and Social Harmony.
They can spread this just message by writing about the
necessity of peace and harmony in their respective News
Paper/ Magazine. Women Leaders can also play an
important part in the campaign for the promotion of
Peace as they can aware the women whom they can
influence about the need of the Peace. Keeping in view
this fact Monthly “Day Time” Magazine and Social
Harmony and Development Organization jointly organized a
Peace Building seminar with Journalists and Women
Leaders on 29th November, 2004 at Hotel
Taj Palace, Sialkot. More than sixty (60)
Journalist and Women Leaders participated in the
seminar. Mr. Akmal Cheema, Tehsil Nazim Sialkot,
Mr. Ishtiaq Hussain, DSP Sialkot and Mr. Maher
Mujtaba, President Anjuman -e- Tajran Sialkot also
participated in the seminar. Mr. Nasir Nayyer,
Program Coordinator, SHADO welcomed the
participants to the seminar. He introduced aims and
objectives, programs and activities of SHADO. He
also highlighted the purpose of the organization and the
objectives of the seminar.
Dr. Nadeem
acted as moderator for the first session. Prof. Ijaz
Butt, famous peace activist and Journalist explained
the present role of media for the promotion for peace.
He told that in the recent past both national and
international media has not played a positive role in
promoting the peace process. But now journalists are
proving to be more helpful in this campaign and working
devotedly in promoting Peace and Harmony through thought
provoking articles. Talking about future role of the
Journalists, he urged the journalist to write for “Peace
Building” and for the promotion of Social Harmony.
Journalists present at the seminar vowed to work for the
promotion of peace and harmony and further resolved that
they will write more and more about the necessity of
peace building and Harmony. Participants admired the
work of Day Time and SHADO towards the
noble cause.
Mr.
Rizwan Ahmed Sulehria, Director IHRWC, was
the moderator for the second session. Mr. Ayuab Khan,
renowned social worker and journalist, was resource
person for the session. Mr. Ayuab Khan told
Women Leaders can play an important role in promoting
harmony and peace within women folks and community. They
influence a great number of women and they can be
helpful for the above mentioned purpose. They can
deliver the message of Social Harmony to the women who
are not aware about the need of peace and by getting
awareness through these enlightened women leaders; women
can also convey the message to their children and other
family members and thus can spread the message on a
larger scale. Mrs. Shahida, lady councilor and
women leader, emphasized that women’s role has always
been supportive towards the peace building and by giving
them more awareness and opportunity regarding harmony
and peace they can be more effective in spreading the
message of Social Harmony and Peace.
Mr.
Akmal Cheema, Tehsil Nazim, Sialkot appreciated
the work of Day Time and SHADO especially
Peace Building Program. Mr. Ishtiaq Hussain, DSP
Sialkot thanked Day Time for conducting this
seminar for Journalist and Women Leaders. He told that
both Journalist and Women Leaders can be of a great
importance for this noble cause.
At
the end, Mr. Irfan Latif Mir, president SHADO
and Chief Editor “Day Time” Magazine thanked all
the participants for attending the seminar arranged by
Day Time Magazine and Social Harmony and
Development Organization (SHADO). |
